Only In God’s Name You Shall Swear

To love God above everything, is a full-time dedication to serve and honour Him. In our Bible Reading  and confession we are commanded to act according to God’s will to trust Him and to serve Him because He is a Lord, a jealous God, this means an only God, and we are allowed to swear an oath in His Name. Verse 13: “It is the Lord your God you shall fear. Him you shall serve and by his name you shall swear.”

We should remember that when we swear an oath, we are calling upon God as witness that we are speaking the truth. To swear an oath is calling God as my witness and with this I am also saying, according to our confession, that God can punish us if we swear falsely.

The truth will always conquer because Jesus conquered and He will come again as the Rider on the White horse and He is called in the Book of Revelation, the Word of God, the Faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth.

To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom, priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever.
