We read in Heidelberg Catechism Lord’s Day 45 that prayer is necessary for Christians “because prayer is the most important part of the thankfulness which God requires of us.”

The Lord knows our weaknesses with respect to prayer. In His Word He encourages us in the face of those weaknesses. Jesus said in our Bible Reading: “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” God gives His Spirit to those who pray!

What shall we do now? Respond to His Word, or be silent? Speak to Him in return, or not?
