The Lord Gives Food To The Hungry
Our Bible Reading in Acts 6 continues where the apostles were arrested by the Sanhedrin and where they faithfully proclaimed that we are called to be more obedient to God than men. We can do this because we are free in Christ. God requires obedience to Him alone as He reveals Himself in His Word. Obedience to God leads to life.
Psalm 146 is the Psalm that testify about God’s mercy and when we slip into attitudes of shortage and despair, we need to remember and trust in God’s faithfulness to us, His congregation. The Jews called Psalm 146, the Psalm of God’s lavish mercy which is a call to praise God.
In verse 8 of our text we read: “the Lord loves the righteous. “The Psalmist sings of Jesus Christ in Psalm 146 already. “The Lord loves the righteous.” We are only righteous through Jesus’ death on the cross. This means that we [as Christians] are right with God!
