We must obey God rather than men. It takes courage to preach God’s Gospel message and even more to live God’s message as God people.

To obey God rather than men, should not be understood in a legalistic way, but rather that we obey God out of gratitude for God’s grace in Jesus, serve Him and love Him above all as He commands in His Word.

It is terrible when you fear people more than God - it is the opposite of what we should be. The fear of God is totally different than the fear of this world. To “fear the Lord” is to have the wisdom to know that He is holy and sovereign, and that we belong to Him through Jesus Christ. To fear the Lord makes you free in Christ, makes you bold to be His witness in the knowledge that nothing can separate you from the love of Christ, not even death, Romans 8.
