Paul taught the congregation of Corinth how serious self-examination is before using the Lord’s Supper. Who can use the Lord’s Supper? The Lord’s Supper is holy in the sense that only believers can participate. Persons, who show through their words and acts that they are ungodly people, cannot participate. Why? This is to their judgement because they are making their judgement even worse. 1 Cor. 11:34: “…so that when you come together it will not be for judgment.”
