A Living Hope Received With Joy
The Apostle Peter wrote this letter in 1 Peter to encourage believers and show them that all trials are the purification of their faith. However, they must hold on to their faith. Therefore, he urged them to live in all circumstances honourable amid the heathen nations. They should remember that they are strangers in the land where they live and more of the world. They still live in this world, but they are not of this world. They have a living hope in the Risen Jesus! We can call Peter’s letter the letter of hope, and three times the comfort of hope is repeated in this letter in chapters 1:3, 1:21 and 3:15.
