Faith And Deeds
The apostle James was an efficient preacher. He knew exactly what was happening in the young congregation of Jerusalem. His preaching is so timely that we can ask: Did he talk to us? James said: “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” He described two types of churchgoers in our Bible Reading. The one is a hearer and the other a doer. They are both hearers of the Word of God, regular churchgoers. James used the Word of God as a mirror (verse 23). He wants us, the Lord’s Church look into that mirror and recognize ourselves and ask the question. Am I only a hearer, or am I a doer?
