Headship And Submission

Paul describes three “headship” relationships: Jesus is the head of every man; man is the head of the woman, and God (the Father) is the head of Christ. Because Paul connects the three relationships, the principles of headship are the same among them. This means that in any relationship, there should be a leader. Without a leader chaos soon sets in. Just as a nation without a leader spells disaster, so too is a family without a head. Why the man? Paul gives the reason in Ephesians 5 verse 23: “For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Saviour.” This is how God ordained this.
