The wall was rebuilt, and the people were deeply aware of the Lord’s good hand over their building and had the desire to hear the sound of God’s Word. As one man they went up to the Water Gate, near the temple square, men, women, and children over 13 years who were able to understand. All the people listened attentively to the Book of the Law. The people could see Ezra because he was standing above them; as he opened it, they all stood up. Ezra praised the Lord, the great God, and all the people lifted their hands and responded, “Amen! Amen!” Then they bowed down and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground.
