Paul explains that we have this treasure in jars of clay, our bodies, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not us. Our bodies are only temporally, like the homes we are staying in, but one day at our destination, on the new earth, when Jesus comes again, we will also receive eternal bodies. Paul describes human life, and he gives a better perspective. We are afflicted in every way, because of original sin, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; Why? Because we have the Holy Spirit to comfort and wipe our tears away, persecuted, as Christians sometimes, but not forsaken; Jesus was forsaken at the cross, so we will never be forsaken anymore. Sometimes we are struck down, by sickness but we are not destroyed, because we are only moving to our eternal destination.
