We read in our text verses: “But you!” “You are a chosen race!” In the previous verse the Lord is talking about those who stumbled, because they disobeyed the Word. It could have happened to you as well!

But then the Lord reminds that He called you out of darkness into His marvellous light. This is merciful, unfathomable and grace. We did not deserve this! Once you were not a people, but now we are His people.
